Pre-K - Delfines Kindergarten - Patos 1st Grade - Cebras   Campers learn, practice and reinforce the Spanish language through development of receptive and expressive language.  By practicing the language both in and out of the classroom, teachers are able to make the campers feel comfortable, and help develop an appreciation and love for the Spanish language.   Each group has snack time, outdoor play, age appropriate rest/quiet time and swim time. In this mini-session, campers will participate in a variety of theater activities, covering several areas of performance and art, culminating in a brief showing on the final day of the week. There will be singing, dancing, writing, and improv, allowing campers’ creative impulses to run on all cylinders. No two sessions will be identical, and all skill levels are welcome! Each group also swims three times a week.

In June, Musical Theater campers will sing, act, and dance Broadway’s greatest songs, scenes, and production numbers selected from various shows. Each group also swims three times a week.

Some classroom time is spent in conjunction learning coding with Code Camp, which Bank Street Summer Camp campers loved this past summer. Each group also swims three times a week.

The Innovations in Coding and S.T.E.A.M. program is based in a recreational setting where each week campers will focus on a different aspect of science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics and coding, in cooperation with Code Camp, which Bank Street Summer Camp campers loved this past summer. This program focuses on conducting experiments both in the classrooms and outside of camp.  When groups go to museums or other educational settings, specialists work with the campers to conduct a focused study of materials that the facility has unique access to. Each group also swims three times a week.

Through trips and projects, your child will receive a foundation on which further interest in science will be built. This program will focus on the scientific method and testing what campers come up with in the group. Each group has snack time, outdoor play, age appropriate rest/quiet time and swim time. Each group also swims three times a week.  This group is for rising first graders.

In the Early Athletes program will primarily focus on developing basic skills such as catching, throwing, dribbling and hitting for soccer, basketball, wiffle ball, badminton, tag games and relays. The Leadership Development Program is designed to split camp time between learning how to become effective leaders and counselors, as well as spend time as a senior camper. Participants will have the skills to become a lifeguard, work at Bank Street Summer Camp, or a different camp, and translate their new skill set into other jobs or other positions of responsibility. The Leadership Development Program swims at least twice a week. For the Leaders who are ready, there will be a two-week internship from July 29 to August 9, where they will spend the day with a camp group as counselor support. Leaders who still might need some more development will continue with the regular Leadership Development Program. At the end of the course they will receive a certificate of completion as well as an evaluation. All registrants of the Leadership Development Program must email one paragraph to Cookie, the Camp Director, focusing on why they would like to participate in the program. Cookie’s email is cmellitz@bankstreet.edu Participants will learn how to interview as well as develop a strong resume, which they must submit the following year should they want to be a paid staff member at camp. In cooperation with Columbia University, the Bank Street Summer Camp is providing weekly programs for children between Pre-K and 8th grade, until August 31st, called the August Alliance. August Alliance programs consist of daily swim and a variety of developmentally appropriate trips and activities. Program options will be available on a week to week basis. Any children of faculty, staff or students at Columbia University and the Cathedral School will receive a discount of 10%. All campers must be potty-trained to be in camp.
