Hindu Gods and Goddesses - Part 2: Learn about Hindu deities through mythological stories, Shlokas, games, songs, arts and festival celebrations. Students will also get introduced to key ideas of Sanatana Dharma through stories and engaging classroom activities.

Geetha Chanting Kids Class   a) Starter kids class: Sunday 4:00 pm - 4:50 pm   b) Open to all kids ages 4+ - classes done over zoom   c) Participants will learn to chant the Gita with emphasis on pronunciation. Senior kids teach the new verse to starter kids in break out rooms. Meaning is discussed briefly and a 2 min pop quiz is done at the end of class to make it fun for the kids. Each participant's learning is monitored with regular assessments at the beginning of class. Senior kids are provided with some reflective thoughts based on the Gita verses to apply the learning to their lives. Private extra classes are taken individually for those who need more support to bring them to par.   d) Primary text: Swami Chinmayananda's  commentary on the Gita. Welcome to our beginner Bharat Natyam dance class!   Bharat Natyam is a classical Indian dance form that combines intricate footwork, graceful hand gestures, expressive facial expressions, and rhythmic body movements. This class is designed for those who are new to Bharat Natyam and want to explore the rich cultural and artistic heritage of this dance style.   Dancers will begin to learn fundamental adavus (steps) and mudras (hand gestures) which form the building blocks of Bharat Natyam. ‘Stuti’ in sanskrit means glorification. Stotras are hymns which seekers use to glorify god, to fill the mind with divine vibrations.If one praises god who is beyond all expectations, one becomes completely free from pride, arrogance and attains godhead. ‘Stuti Vandana’ is a collection of famous stotras put together by our mission members, for instilling the idea of humility in our children’s mind.   Children will receive a medal for each stotra that they have memorized. When the child correctly completes the current year’s Bagavad Geeta chapter, he or she will automatically be awarded the Stuti Vandana medal for that chapter.   When the child has memorized all the stotras, he or she is awarded the final plaque with Pujya Gurudev’s signature on it. In this program every child is a winner for life.

  Chinmaya Mission New York presents Harikatha Seva in English on Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda.   Followed by Aarti, Prasad and Dinner   Harikatha is an art form composed of storytelling, music, drama, dance, poetry, and philosophy.  It is a popular medium of entertainment to transmit cultural, educational, and religious values to the masses. In Harikatha, (also called katha kalashepa or katha kirtan) the life of the saint or a story from an Indian epic is chosen as a subject.   This Harikatha will feature the life of Swami Chinmayananda - (born as P Balakrishnan Menon) as a naughty child, rebellious youth, patriotic freedom-fighter, inquisitive journalist, yearning seeker to a great spiritual Master of all time. A Visionary and Missionary who has touched all of our hearts and continuously inspires us to attain the highest goal which is Self-Realization.   Harikatha Seva will be conducted by Smt. Chinmaya Vrindavan Amrutavihar is a special program tailored for children, who are differently abled, to come together for social interaction, spiritual growth and learning. Adult Study Group Attendees:  Open only to registered Balavihar families or Parivaar/Sevak members Time: 9:15 - 11:00 AM Sundays on Balavihar weekends   If the Upanishads are the text books of philosophical principles discussing man, world and God, the Bhagavad Gita is a handbook of instructions as to how every human being can come to live the subtle philosophical principles in the actual work-a-day world. Srimad Bhagavad Gita, the Divine song of the Lord, occurs in the Bhishma Parva of the Mahabharata. This great handbook of practical living marked a positive revolution in Hinduism and inaugurated a Hindu renaissance for the ages that followed the Puranic era.   This year the class will first complete Karma Yoga from the Bhagavad Gita Chapter 3.  The discussion will focus on learning how to implement “Yogah Karmasu Kowshlam” - the dexterity of action, the art of making any day to day karma into Karma Yoga.   Chapter 4 introduces the need to perform karma as a yoga without attaching to the results (fruits) in order to achieve atma gnana (knowledge of self). Often quoted, profound slokas such as (yada yadahi dharmasya and paritranaya sadhunam) that discuss about Bhagavan's avatar are thoroughly discussed. Many types of yajnas are described and discussed, which are often misunderstood.

Girls and boys go beyond just blocks in Construction Junction. This advanced art program lets children learn how to plan, build, and construct their own 3-D art projects! Roads, towers, monuments, and pyramids are just a sample of the structures to be introduced, imagined, and created with wood, collage, cloth, clay, and more.-art

Our program is designed to facilitate children with sensitive needs for ages 4.5 - 7 years. The class focuses on sensory exploration, gymnastics, games, group drills by using a wide variety of state of the art surfaces and manipulatives offered in the gym (trampoline, foam pit, mini trampoline, tumble track, trapeze, sensory swings, mats of all shapes and sizes). Fitness and fun in one class for the child with extra sensitive senses! Along with body control, this class will also focus on the use of communication skills in a social setting.
