Welcome to our Beginner Kathak Dance Class!

In this class, you'll embark on an exciting journey into the world of Kathak, a traditional Indian classical dance form that combines intricate footwork, graceful movements, and expressive storytelling. Dancers will explore the fundamental footwork patterns that are the backbone of Kathak and practice different 'tatkars' or rhythmic sequences to develop agility and coordination. As they continue through the semester, they will progress from basic turns to more advanced techniques while maintaining balance and control.

*2024 Moksha Arts T-Shirt Included in Fee

*Fall semester will end with a year-end dancer-only showcase on Thursday, December 14th @ 5:30pm. Please note this is a tentative date & time based on theater availability. Final details will be released in November. 

*All dancers participating in the showcase will need to attend the mandatory rehearsal on Sunday, December 10th @Playwrights Studio.  

*Students dance barefoot in studio. Upon arrival, students will remove socks and shoes in studio. 

*Students should wear comfortable clothing such as Moksha Arts t-shirt and leggings/sweatpants. No dresses or skirts.

*Hair must be pulled back/tied up.

*Please send dancer with a water bottle to class. 

*Make-up class is not provided for missed classes by student. Make-up is only provided should Moksha Arts cancel a class due to teacher emergency.
